Competitions make up SHSA’s largest outreach effort. They are usually held at local Scottish Games or Celtic Festivals providing education and entertainment to the public while highlighting the harp’s place in Scottish culture and history. Many competitors enter their local competition but a growing number of competitors at all levels are traveling to many different competitions throughout the country.
Our National Championship is held annually and travels between competitions to ensure access for many competitors in changing venues. This helps to broaden relationships among harp players as well as introducing greater numbers of spectators to the harp and to Scottish music. We are proud that the National Championship is sponsored by the very generous Clan Currie Society.
